When: Saturday, November 1, 2008 - closing
Where: 15 Crescent Drive, Pleasant Hill, CA (925) 687-9956
Description:
They’re advertising price drops of 75% off and they just announced the sale. The store is closing, so it’s as supplies last. With a name like “Furniture 4 Less,” it might be “crappy, tacky furniture 4 less,” but if you live nearby, check it out. Sometimes poorly named businesses actually carry really nice stuff. The same is true in the opposite direction
When: Sat, Aug 30 & Sun, Aug 31, 2008 10 AM - 5 PM
Where: 2351 Lincoln Ave, Hayward, CA

Description:
My, oh my! My heart skipped a beat when I saw the announcement email for this event come into my inbox! This liquidation sale is being sponsored by Liquid Events, which put on the phenomenal sale that started the idea for this site last spring.
Based off of my previous experience with Liquid Events, this sale is very promising!!!
Too bad I’m not in the market for appliances right now!
The Gourmet Appliance Outlet sale promises discounts ranging from 25 - 75% below wholesale. Not bad. Hopefully this will be a regular, annual sale and we can go next year!
When: Saturday, August 23, 2008 10 AM - 4 PM
Where: 1137 57th Avenue, Oakland, CA 510-534-7141
Link: http://www.concreteworks.com
Description:
Do you have a fetish for the concrete form? Or, does the notion of anything made from concrete make you think of the a college dorm style bookshelf made from two concrete blocks and a slab of wood? Either way, this is a great event to go to.
If you belong to the former group, this sale offers the opportunity to scoop up rare pieces that are functional art at a smidgen of the usual price.
If you belong to the latter group, come to the event anyway and be prepared to have your eyes pop at the realization of how gorgeous concrete can be.
When: Friday, August 22 - Sunday, August 24, 2008 -> See Times Below
Where: Sacramento Convention Center ,1400 J Street, Sacramento, CA Exhibit Hall C
Link: http://sacramento.jbfsale.com/
Description:
This is a huge, well-run consignment sale that specializes in infant, children’s and maternity clothing, as well as baby & child related “stuff” like strollers, toys, cribs, etc.
If you’re a volunteer, consignor, teacher, first time parent or grandparent, you can qualify to get into to sale during the “presale” hours on Thursday. My suspicion is that, for this sale to be really worth it, especially if you’re looking for more big ticket items, like furniture or strollers, you want to try to qualify as one of the aforementioned.
Enjoy and PLEASE report back your experiences, good and bad, so I know if I should mention other JBF events!
Thanks!

When: This is an ongoing “outlet” sale
Where: Items are reviewed and purchased via the Internet, but MUST be picked up at the Design Public San Francisco offices.
Link: http://www.designpublic.com/outlet/
Description:
Nifty! Wow! These are words that initially describe what I dig about the Design Public Outlet. Most items in the outlet part of the website are marked down at least 40% off. In fact, I haven’t cruised the whole of the outlet section, but I think maybe it’s EVERYTHING that’s listed for 40% off.
Beware, this doesn’t mean you can grab stuff willy-nilly for steal-o-rama prices like, say, $11 for a lamp (that was just a random sample… the cheapest lamp presently listed at the DPO is going for $52.80, previously listed at $88). This isn’t Target, folks. It’s artisanal, crafted, beautifully designed stuff that you will most certainly NOT encounter on your next Ikea, Target, Home Depot or Caldor run.
On a side note, not unlike their products, the site is BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED - really well streamlined with the enduser in mind. It offers a number of handy ways to search their products and great search filters. Spiffy!
When: Thurs, Aug 7 - Sun, Aug 10 -> HOURS posted below
Where: Fort Mason, San Francisco, CA
Link: Yelp Event Write Up … DWR Sale Page
Description:
DWR is dropping off over 40 truckloads of furniture and offering up to 80% off retail.
Personally, I’m not that hot for DWR, but then again our 80 year old Mediterranean is furnished with post-apartment living Ikea grabs and Craig’s List classique chic, so I’m not exactly the choir they’re preaching to. Our true “quality” furniture is either the result of a fabulous wedding gifter or careful investments we’ve made at some of the better consignment stores in the area.
Nevertheless, we ARE in the middle of re-purposing some of our house - making room for baby #2 - so perhaps the better pricing at this warehouse sale may inspire us to modernize some of our furnishings.
SALE HOURS:
Thursday, August 7 Noon - 6pm
Friday, August 8 Noon - 7pm
Saturday, August 9 10am- 5pm
Sunday, August 10 11am- 5pm
Thanks Shal for the heads up on this!!!

The Big Pagoda Company is having a storewide closeout sale with discounts ranging from 15-75% off. They’re abandoning their brick and mortar stores and moving to an online-store-only model. Thus, they may not be as super-motivated to drop their prices as they days go by. All the same, if you’re looking for beautiful, asian-inspired furniture and home accessories, check it out.

Description:
Haven’t been to this one either, but the friend who turned me onto it thinks there are great deals to be had here. Definitely read some of the reviews on Yelp to make sure you’re savvy… I’ve heard of problems with delivery from the normal-priced Macy’s in SF, so, take suggestions / experiences like this one to heart.

According to my sister-in-law, this is a worthwhile sale if you’re in the market for “resto” stuff. If you’ve ever gone, please leave comments about the value of the sale (good prices / deals?). Your feedback will help determine if I list this sale monthly or not.
